Hi all,
this is a terrific site! never seen anything quite like it.

I'm in big doggie doo doo and I'm hoping some bright star has an easy way out for me.

I was making good progress riding my system of some malware when I got to the part where I was to configure the system to boot in safe mode. after setting safe mode in msconfig, the system wouldn't boot. I booted from my xp install cd and ran the fixboot and fixmbr commands to try to recover the boot partition but that didn't work. I ran the install and selected the 'r' option to repair the existing os installation. No joy on that one either. I see the windows banner when the system boots and it looks like netloader is running by instead of the login screen coming up, all I get is a live mouse pointer and a black screen. Any ideas? sure don't want to loose my programs and settings. I don't have a repair disk and I don't backup anything except my data.
