In desperate need of help Bookmarks GONE

Hi there. My book marks have totally dissapeared. I tried a system restore and no help. It's like I got wiped out and a fresh version of firefox. I had so many important links for school saved and now they are GONE, Any advice from the pros would be great!!! THANKS SO MUCH

Are you accidently opening FF in safe mode, by any chance? (It would say "safe mode" in parenthesis after the FF icon in your start menu).

 

Hi there, no not in safe made. Now It wont even let me save new bookmarks????

 

Let me just clarify what I meant...I did not mean the computer's safe mode...I meant Firefox's safe mode...which doesnot have the little "safe mode" words appearing in all four corners, so isn't immediately obvious that you have opened in safe mode.

If you still are sure you aren't in safe mode, when you logged on to Wndows, you used the same user account as normal, yes? Just eliminating the obvious here first

 

Hi there, it sounds to me like you have a corrupt localstore.rdf problem ..it happens. Not often fortunately. You may be able to fix your problem by opening FireFox in safe mode via the start menu and then [FONT=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]Select the option "reset toolbars and controlls"
I know this works for a few of FF's 2.0 little quirks. Im not looking at safe mode now, but there may be a bookmark fix too.
Also, if you delete the localstore.rdf file in FireFox (in program files(search it)) you will be able to fix it that way as well. though your existing bookmarks will be lost, wich means start from scratch.
I suggest you try the first fix, and if nothing else works, then move on to the rdf delete

I just looked, there indeed is a bookmark reset in FF's safe mode, but I would first attempt the toolbar one first, as we dont want ur bookmarks to disapear

Thanks for your time, it is very much appreciated. I don't think I'm in safe mode. Tim, I did find the bookmark back ups, thanks. One other problem is when I go to start resaving my bookmarks, let's say I'm on this website, majorgeeks and I click bookmarks and than book mark this page, it wont let me clicl ok. I can click on it and nothing will happen???? I can only cancel out of the screen. Hmmm so watch tink?

Hi, well I still can't save any bookmarks into the bookmarks tool bar. Any ideas.
I don't know what to do. I can get regular bookmarks to save???

 

Should I reset in safe mode and reset toolbars. How do I start up in safe mode??

Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode).
