In Itunes, ‘Add folder to library’ automatically creates hundreds of playlists,

each beginning with 00-, followed by artist name. As it adds these playlists (which are just albums), it plays a few seconds before skipping to the next one and repeating. Consequently, everytime I want to add new music, I have to suffer hundreds of new playlists being created that I do not want. It’s made Itunes virtually unusable for me. Any help would be much appreciated.
