Hi, have a problem with a machine on my network. The machine can access any pc on the lan but whenever i try to access the same machine from the other pc's i get an error message

    \\"pc name" is not accessible.
    Access is denied.

I have removed a bunch of viruses and malware, and performed a repair install. I have changed user accounts. I have tried anaother network card.
    the problem persists.
    My specs:

    Winxp home
    P4 2.6MHz
    1Gig Ram
    80Gig Hdd

any advice would be super appreciated, thanks.

its exacly what it says, you do not have permissions. Are you using simple file sharing? If so try to reshare the files, make sure everyone has read access on the share and on the folder itself. If you are not using sinple file sharing, you will need to connect to the machine using a login and password that is valid on the remote machine.

If you are running XP make sure the firewall is not on for that PC.

Thanks for the help guys, nothing seemed to work tho, seems some of the viruses must have done more damage than originally apparent. Anyway, problem solved with a reinstall (norton ghost is a lifesaver) and then running the network setup wizard again :)

Had this problem once, turned out the firewall on one PC was blocking access.
make sure you have it configured to accept connections from the LAN.

    Hi
However ensure before configuring the network that the gues account is enabled.

Win XP has this problem of not able to connect to a existing network if the guest account is configured,

Are you using the inbuilt network setup wizard ?

if so also try setting it up by assigning mannual IP address if you have further problem

    enjoiii ;)
