ok, so this linksys router has inspired me to make an addition to my signature. Loudly proclaiming this device as a POS for all to see.
    So, Here's the story:
Getting VoIP cisco ATA devices. Needed QoS router to ensure voice quality. No Problem, VoIP dealer recommends the BEFSR81, cheap, 8 port, does QoS. Unpack the first one, attempt to put in stati IP information. Get invalid gateway error. Now, my gateway and my IP address ARE on different subnets, but hey, that's what a subnet mask is for. upgrade the firmware, firmware upgrade borks it. TFTP into it, reflash it again. Router comes back. Try to setup with new firmware, does same thing, call linksys, spend 78 minutes on the phone trying to explain to them that the router isn't defective, the firmware is not coded properly. OK, round 2. Open up the next one. It has an older firmware revision than the other one had out of the box, noticeably different, 2 DNS entry boxes instead of 3. Enter IP info, this one works. Conclusively making my point whuile the linksys tech was on the phone with me. Here's a hint linksys or cisco, whoever does your firmware: TRY TESTING IT BEFORE YOU RELEASE IT!!!
Bunch of tools. I was supposed to be off 2 and a half hours ago, but since I guess I'm a beta tester for linksys firmware my day wasn't over. So, in honor of Linksys' shoddy tech support and poor firmware code I'm giving this unit the first POS of the month award.
    Congratulations Linksys, you've earned it

yeah, so there's a lot of acronyms in there. that and my not caring about typos certainly makes it difficult. Here's the short version
The linksys BEFSR81 wasted 3 hours of my life for a problem that should have never happened. Linksys sucks, I'll never recommend another linksys product to my customers. that is all.

    Suxxage.

PoS hardware vendor website award goes to PCI... I got a USB Bluetooth adaptor, and the driver crashes on shutdown... causing a stop error. I debug the dumpfile, find out that its the bluetooth driver causing it to die. Go to the website with the view to update the driver... find the device page.... EVENTUALLY after resotring to a google search because you cant naviagte to it thru the website any more .... and went to download the driver ... and the links were broken. Not only were the links broken, but there were no other mirrors. HOW CRAP!!
