I have a new laptop. I set up OE with pop.charter.net, but every time I come back to check mail, it says 127.0.0.1 instead of pop.charter.net. I have to go to account properties every time to check mail. Any thoughts? Thanks.

127.0.0.1 is the local host address, ie every outgoing request with this address actually never get out from your computer.
Assuming you're running XP, go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\ and open the Host file with a text editor (notepad, wordpad..). Check out to find charter.net and if so, delete the entry. Check out also your firewall or antivirus settings, since they may have installed a mail filter on the local host.
    Hope that will help you.

Its your antivirus program, doesn't touch your host file. Your need to disable your incoming/outing email scan. Or contact the provider to reconfigure it.
