Incompatible RAM?

Hello

Before I begin Id like to say any help in my problem is much appreciated. I searched through the forums for similar problems but I didn't find much.
These are my computer specs:
AMD Athlon 3000 XP
1 GB Ram DDR
Recently purchased 2 x 1GB RAM DDR from G Skill.
Gigabyte Motherboard
Windows XP Pro

Recently I purchased RAM that I thought was compatible with my system. However when I booted my computer up with the new RAM I received a DISK BOOT ERROR. When I tried restoring my old pieces of RAM I get an NTLDR is missing error. I tried doing a windows repair with my XP disk and it didn't work. I should point out that my current XP pro is an upgrade CD only, from my old OS Windows 2000 Pro. This is possibly why the windows repair didn't work. All I want is to enjoy more RAM. The computer doesn't have a floppy drive so I cant load anything onto a floppy disk.

We are going to need more information on the model of the RAM and the motherboard.

Did you install the new sticks yourself? If so you might have done something wrong during the process.

Double check your motherboard manual to make sure that you place the RAM sticks into the correct seats. There are usualy numbers (1,2,3,4) on them and the manual describes which ones to use.

 

The RAM I purchased is made by G Skill and it is DDR 400 PC-3200. 2 X 1024 MB sticks. The motherboard I have is Gigabyte K8NS.

I did install the sticks myself however I've done this sort of thing before and have never had issues. I was pretty diligent in handling the sticks in and or around the motherboard.
