Inconsistent Internet Connection

I had gotten malware on my computer and I referenced the spyware page, downloaded several anti-malware programs, booted into Safe Mode, and wiped everything really clean. The malware is gone now but I think I may have disabled something that I shouldn't have while cleaning out registry files or something. My internet access doesn't work for very long. It's very inconsistent. Sometimes it'll work for a little while and then just stop. I'll have to close all IE windows and reopen IE and sometimes it'll work again right away and sometimes I have to wait half an hour for it to work again. It typically doesn't keep working for more than 5, maybe 10 minutes at a time. Sometimes less than a minute. And it's not just IE, firefox is the same. One thing that's strange about this though is that there are still a few websites in my favorites that will work when none of the rest work. Strangely (and quite conveniently), all of the sites I access to pay my bills always work. So it's not my internet connection that doesn't work, it's the browsers, or something that interfaces with the browsers. When they stop working, I can still ping websites just fine.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

When the parasites install them self in addition of the files they create hooks in the system directing to the Junk. When you get rid of the Junk the hooks might stay and in the absence of the target files creates problems in the system.

In most cases it is Winsock problem and the Layer Service might be involved too.

How do I remove the modern drivers? I'm running Win2k.

I ran WinsockFix and it seemed to work perfectly for a while but it started doing the same thing again. I ran LSP-Fix but it didn't change anything. Is there a way to reset the TCP/IP stack in Win2k?

Excuse me, I could use some help. My damn internet connection just will not work for very long. I've realized that it crashes much faster if I try downloading too much at a time, like if I try to listen to internet radio or watching a video online. Does anyone have any idea what the hell is causing the problem and what I can do about it?
