laptop is aspire 4920g with 1024x768 screen resolution

having ati2dvag blue screen problems so decided to update drivers (another problem but not for this thread)

but after i updated my drivers (uninstalled + used drive sweeper) to the new one i downloaded from the website of my laptop (so i'm assuming IT IS for my laptop) the default resolution is 1280x800 (looks good tho) and the system tray icons are all blurry. and when i change the resolution to 1024x768 , it is all blurry unlike before my driver update where this resolution looks as clear as rhe 1280x800.

anyway, you might ask why not live with the 1280x800 since it is only for your desktop and not for your games?? well it isn't. the default resolution of the only game i play (nba 2k11) followed the 1280x800 resolution and thus resulting to ~10 fps decrease. and when i change the reso of the game to 1024x768, it also goes blurry like the desktop. please help.

driver i use for my hd 2400 xt is version 8.4 without catalyst because i use ati tray tools.

    Greetings, simonsky96.

Quick try: are there any options for changing the monitor's refresh rate for either of the resolutions? There may not be, but if so, try changing the rate, see if you symptoms change.

You might also consider rolling back to an earlier driver version for troubleshooting purposes.

Another thought: you might try installing the generic driver from ATI instead of from Acer, again for troubleshooting purposes. It should be listed at ATI under the Mobility Radeon 2xxx series - just plug in your operating system version and architecture.

there is for lower resolutions but it is stuck at 60 for 1280x800.

before the update i was using omega drivers and it was looking fine, meaning changing resolutions would only change the size of how things appear and not the clarity of the images. although i cant remember exactly why it defaulted to 1024x768 resolution before.

i tried reinstalling using the omega drivers again but still the same. i also tried downloading ati drivers from 3rd party sources and to no avail. and the one from the official website would lead you to acer's website, saying something like they don't have it etc etc.

I thought that the one from acer website would get things right because they asked me what my laptop was but it didn't.
