Increase game performance.

I play Flight Simulator X on my computer. I get 18 fps with low scenery and high global texture resolution for good plane detail. Any help on increasing performance?????

Off the top of my head I don't know any tips to improve performance in that particular game because I don't play it,these are often know as 'free' tweaks as they improve performance by utilizing your hardware more efficiently with little or no impact on visual quality and are particular to each game. In general though improving FPS is always at the expense of visual quality,some you will notice less than other and its up to you to find a balance your comfortable with.

I'll point you to these guides also which describe configuration file tweaks "CFG",mostly these tweaks will lower visual quality in favour of performance, some are also things like lower quality texture packs-

Depending on how much performance your after these tweaks may be enough,there are also things you can tweak in your video card driver to improve performance which i'll go into once we know your specs.

 

Limit your startup programs that run in the background. Only run what is actually necessary.
