Increase Integrated Video Card's Memory Size?

I just bought a new computer that says it has 64MB of shared graphics memory for integrated graphics. My system is going to have a gig of RAM and I was wondering if it was possible to increase that number to 128MB or 256MB since there's no way I'm going to use all that memory for computing and would like to be able to play some games until I can afford a decent video card. Thanks.

I don't believe you can, you will just have to save up for a decent video card, on a buget i would suggest the 6600gt, if you want the best go with a 7800gt/gtx even if you could onboard video still sucks, you can't game on it.

You can Increase the Video Apperture in BIOS If Available !

Video Aperture will not do what you are wanting. However, there should be an option in your BIOS somewhere that will allow you to change the amount of shared video RAM.

Having said that, it probably won't make a big difference. Integrated video cards are not made for gaming. They are made for grandma and grandpa to surf the internet and do their taxes. If you want to play some games, spend $100 and get something like this:

Thanks for your help :) I'll just get a fairly good AGP card or game on the other computer.

Check first and make sure you have an available AGP slot.

Like the others said, increasing aperture size won't help, and even if you could increase the memory shared ratio, the onboard video chip itself is very basic and can only do so much.

I know that I have an AGP slot. It will be occupied with a 32MB card to run a second monitor. Would a card with a 240mHz chip be sufficient for games such as Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 or would I need faster?

That depends on your definition of sufficient, and what your hardware is.

To play it properly and at a decent frame rate, I wouldn't be looking at anything less than a 6600GT or X800 GTO.

the 6600gt is a great budget card, the evga model i have supports digital out and 2 monitors, it also has a digital-VGA adaptor, 2 of them actually.
