    Hi,
In a moment of insanity I decided to download Incredimail, and am having all sorts of problems. Firstly, the install is stuck at 25% and will go no further after a couple of hours. I went to Add or Remove Programs but got the message "Could not open INSTALL.LOG file" so I am stuck in no-man's land.
My computer has slowed and I am having trouble shutting down other programs. I have done a clean up with CCleaner, used Ad-Aware and Super Anti-Spyware, plus AVG. I have tried Revo Uninstaller but got the same message re the INSTALL.LOG file. Any ideas would be welcome
    Thanks:confused

    EDIT made in this post:

Q: How do I uninstall IncrediMail?

A: To uninstall IncrediMail, simply do the following:
Click the Windows 'Start' menu, scroll to 'Programs', select 'IncrediMail' and click 'Uninstall IncrediMail'.

Note: When uninstalling IncrediMail, you will lose all unsaved data. It is recommended to backup your IncrediMail data before uninstalling, in case you will want to use it again in the future.

Select the 'Uninstall IncrediMail' option (marked in red) and click 'Next' (marked in blue). When asked to verify the uninstallation process, click 'Yes'.

Try to do it in safe mode. Also reinstalling the program can help. And then of cause attempt uninstalling again.

Disable your security programs when reinstalling IncrediMail.

thanks for Replies, but unfortunately I am no further advanced. Going to Start, programs etc is nogo because Incredimail is not listed there. I need to finish the install before I can uninstall it. I looked on MG's download page just now and there is a warning that the latest build is crashing and it would be better to wait for a new version. Maybe that is my problem. I am nervous about trying to install from another site in case I compound the problem and have 2 incomplete installs! I might just have to live with it as it is for a while.

You haven't told us what version of windows you have, but in my experience Incredimail install will be prevented from completing by Windows Defender in Vista.

Temporarily turn off UAC and Defender to allow the install, restart complete the installation, restart and turn the security back on.

I am using XP Professional. I have turned off Zone alarm but did not help. I don't know what else to try.

Reinstalling the program will most likely not result in you having the same software twice - that would be highly unusual. I think a reinstall would be your best option. So try to download the program again. Only this time have all your security software disabled during download, reinstall and uninstall.

An other possibility: ask the guys in the malware Forum here on Majorgeeks if they would help you deleting the ugly thing as if is was some bad code or malicious program. It can be done that way.

Okay Cordialis I will give another install a try before I bother the Malware guys. That will be my last resort held in reserve. I can disable AVG, and firewall but how do I turn off AdAware and SuperAntiSpyware. Will I have to remove them? Thanks for your interest

Well if your Ad-Aware and SUPERAntiSpyware programs are the freeware versions you don't have to do anything. If they are pro versions with more features you just right click on the icons in tray and disable the programs via the little menu that pops up.

Hooray hooray! It is gone at last. I followed Cordialis and downloaded again from the Geeks and then uninstalled it. When I do a search lots of files are still showing, do I just leave them alone?
    Many thanks

You are logged on as an administrator to install aren't you?

Also I think this program needs an internet connection to complete installation.

No. Run CCleaner again - first all options in the ordinary cleaning section and then all options in the registry section. Check if the program is still listed in CCleaner's Tools. Delete if it is. Also visit Windows Live OneCare safety scanner - full scan. OK all it's suggestions. After that go over Explorer and delete the folder. My guess is that' it is still sitting there. Use Search Companion for that job - the one with the yellow dog - search "All files and folders" for the last few remains. Delete by right clicking the findings in your search and select Delete from the small menu that pops up.
