Hey guys, just a quick question.

Is Incredimail safe or is it adware/spyware?

I haven't seen or heard it to be classified as spyware nor any of its files came up in spyware scans but as with most commercial software companies' free version of a particular program, it sure does like to advertise itself thru e-mails sent...still no harm from what I have seen...(I switched to ThunderBird and currently testing it, give it a shot if you didn't like Incredimail). ;)

I wouldn't trust it....I think is a bunch of ad-ware, I use to use it when it first came out and my computer got lost of crap from this program...I wouldn't use it..unless you like getting ads all the time...

If you have a webmail account such as Hotmail, you are kind of stuck using Outlook express or Incredimail (which I use). I haven't noticed any more crap than I normally get. The free version has advertisements, but that is all. You can change settings so that it doesn't look for updates and such. I've tried others like Foxmail that reads hotmail, but it doesn't take the messages off the server. Bottom line: You need it if you have hotmail and it's better than OE.

I use Thinderbird and love it, but my wife, she is the one who found Incredimail.

I haven't noticed anything different so far, no pop up ads, no sluggish behavior and nothing showed up in Ad-aware except some tracking cookies, which always show. But everytime she sends me mail there are advertisements at the bottom, thats what made me concerned.

The other reason why I question it is because while searching it on google I found an "Incredimail Removal Tool", which led me to believe it may be ad-ware or spyware. Most programs that require removal tools are because they are malicious.

Anyone else know for sure? Kodo??

Again, no reputable source identified it as 'spyware' nor found any links but as others and myself mentioned it is ad supported and quite possibly selling your personal info/causing spam to your e-mail given during sign-up but I suggest you read their 'Privacy Policy' to be 100% sure...
