Indexing issue

Hey guys. My windows is being retarded, and I wont lie, I'm still on XP and I can't upgrade, no means, so I need to work with what I have.

Recently when I open the file folders, like My Computer, or My Documents, it stutters at displaying, or finding the names of the files. Sometimes it freezes all together, like it has a memory leak. I've run the IOBIT system repair options, and if claims the problems are fixed, but they immediately unfix. System defrag reports no bad sectors, and I haven't had any hardware or heat issues.

No idea what it's problem is. Seems to be software related and I attempted to run repair, but the CD reminded me that the version I have is newer than itself and I would have to reformat to fix it.

If that's what I gotta do, that's what I gotta do, but I'd like to try some other options first, because I don't have any cash on hand to buy any kind of media transfer device, even CDs and i need this creaking tub to keep afloat.

Maybe it's because I named him "Rat Bastard" the last time I had to reformat him. hehe

 

There's some things you can do to see if it's hardware related. Any yellow ticks in device manager, maybe a driver got corrupted? Run memtest86 to check your RAM and the hard drive makers utility to rule those out first.

I had an X2 3800+ and that's a decent machine, try that first and I hope your hardware is clean.
