indiscipline in explorer

Hi,

Wondering if any of you know why internet explorer opens in pairs. I click the icon once and two windows open. Have i caught something? I am on w2k and have installed nortan, and have zone alarm as a fire wall.

have you been running an adware and spyware remover?

its the generally recommended that you run LavaSoft Ad-Awre SE and Spybot Search & Destroy at least once every few weeks to clean up all the junk you can pick up through simple web browsing.

try running those scans, and use the immunize feature in Spybot, it will help with a lot of spyware.

in addition, running these to keep your computer clean will keep your computer running nicely at full speed.

i have been running spybot .....
the only entries there that were spared were some entries from download mangager. I am frightened if i delete these files, the program may not work properly. any advice?

i will download and run the other program you have mentioned.

 

i believe both spybot and ad-aware have a quarentine or 'backup' function, so you can qarentine the questionable files, and see if the program still works, and if it doesnt, you can restore the files.

other than that, make sure you are up to date with Windows Update, and mayve try reinstalling the most recent internet explorer service pack.
