infosrv.exe using 85% CPU in task manager

    infosrv.exe is killing my cpu during normal operations. I try to end the process and tree and it returns to a different location in the Task Manager and continues to utilize way to much CPU. I have ran Spybot, Ad-Aware SE and trend micro free online scan. I use Nortons for virus. I am running a win 2000 machine. Thanks for any help.

    Please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

    If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

    NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

    I have tried the above and I too have infosrv.exe taking up too much CPU and I can't get it removed. Any other help would be appreciated.

    Brian,

    It would be better if you started your own thread. Or you can follow along here but it becomes difficult to work more than one user's problem in a single thread. If the steps we take for jrbjr do not work for you or do not apply then start your own thread. Be sure to indicate what you have tried thus far or you will just receive the run the READ ME FIRST message.

    Since jrbjr has not been back in a number of days, it may be faster for you to start your thread now.
