Infrared wireless on Laptop stopped working

I have recently noticed that my IR on my laptop is not working. Under device manager, it looks fine, so I think the hardware is ok. In the control panel there is an icon called "wireless link". This icon controls the IR wireless device. When I double click the icon, nothing happens. I do see the hourglass for a sec, then it goes away. In the task manager, when I double click the icon, I see rundll32.exe start, then immediatly stop. I use my IR to sync my phone to the laptop. Anyone have an idea whats going wrong?
