Recently, I downloaded free recording software that enables me to record a vynil LP or casette tape and then burn it onto a disc. This download is called Audacity. My problem is that the input on my computer only plays in mono. I have tried everything in the way of stereo connecters. I find that if I pull the connector out of the input jack halfway, then I get stereo, but then the sound quality is decreased. Does anyone know the solution to that? Thanks.

Yes, I have made sure to use stereo cables and adapters, but nothing seems to work. I figure that maybe I need to install a new sound card that will play and record in stereo. When I play my itunes, for example, they play in stereo, but when I plug in a device such as a turntable or cassete deck, it only plays and record in mono even with stereo cables and adapters.

    Hi Glen,

Just a thought: Are you using the Mike input or the Line Input. Mike is a mismatch and may be mono. Line (600 ohms) is normal for most player inputs and is stereo.

    Maybe?

    Good Luck, Jim
