Inspiron 1501 Vista Basic. I cloned the existing 80GB SATA to a 320GB. Used my old reliable Ghost bootable diskette and cloned disk to disk like I always do (100's of times). Installed replacement drive into notebook and power on. BIOS detects the drive correctly and POST screen shows the drive, but after the POST screen goes to blank like it normally would to then boot to Windows splash the POST screen returns and this becomes an endless loop. Never got past the POST screen. What am I missing?

I've been troubleshooting and repairing computers 16 years. Been around them and using them longer than that. Hell I started out with an Apple II and a Vic 20!

    So you should realise

    1) That when you do this cloning you may get problems with the BIOS trying to boot to the wrong partition.

    2) I'm not sure that Ghost will properly clone a Vista partition. All the boot stuff is different from NT/2K/XP/98/Me
