Inspiron 2650 DVD-Rom

    I picked up a used toy. Never played DVD except for data.I can't read a rented dvd...starts to read, then dumps me. I have tried several different players. windows media 10, real, power dvd...all send me packing. I get an error that the disk isn't the proper format.In need of some Geek wizdom :(
