I left it on over night, and most of the following day. Came home from work and my GF had turned it off. So I plugged the PSU back in and the CPU fans started up at full speed, which is very loud, the power light was green and the battery charge light was yellow. This is before I even pressed the power button. So I unplugged it from the PSU and they went off, tried again to see the same thing happen.

So I took out all of the components, like memory, modem, cd, battery, floppy, HD. Tried it again and still the same thing.

Thinking maybe the PSU was bad I bought another one today at the local Cyber Mall. I couldn't find a new one, so I got the best looking one I could find. I should mention that I live in Tianjin, China, and finding things new and OEM here is a little difficult. So I tried my luck and the same thing happend. So I checked the voltage coming from the PSU ends. Everything was okay there, which leads me to believe that there is either a bad CPU or bad MB.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I have been searching for two days and I can't find anything. My eyes hurt from searching all the different forums, and I'm stumpped. I'm no amature when it comes to this stuff and don't really feel like tearing apart the case of this thing if someone knows the answer.

This is my GF's laptop and I can't afford to buy her a new one considering I just shelled out over 2Gs on a new AM2 computer. I really don't want to leave her without a computer, but I'm not in a position to buy her a new one either. I can just hear it now, what timing. Fate can be cruel.

Oh the ASUS M2N-32 Deluxe is by far the best main board I have ever used, and using two SLI cards for the first time is like, well you remember the first time, right?

okay, I've taken the whole thing apart. Removed everything, the CPU, the LCD, the keyboard, the touch pad, the LED board. and it still does the same thing. So that tells me that there is a problem with the main board. I guess now that I have it apart I can trouble shoot the board. Oh Well...

Dang I hate to say this now, but did you think to check the "Power Switch", have heard numerous cases here of faulty power switch's either not turning off or turning on. Kinda hope thats not it seeing as you have the whole thing in pieces, take care Pyro

Well I did have that thought until I removed the power switch board. It's a seprate piece that has the LED's, Power, and multimedia buttons on it. It sits above the mainboard on a small riser.
