Inspron E1505 lap top problem

My daughters lap top will not go to the desktop? I hit F12 and did the full scan and it shows ok. When I reboot after that it wont go to where I can sign in. It is a dell Insperon E1505 with XP home.

I go to boot safe mode and it does and then everything goes black. With only the words showing safe mode.

 

I got into the BIOS and looked around and its not getting anything from the battery?

 

you should be able to take the battery out and still run it of the ac plug.

 

I just bought a new dell battery and installed it and no luck. I ran the bios and it showed a bad battery ?? I dont know what to do next?? Thank you for any help.

 

You may need a CMOS battery. Even for a laptop. It is a small (dime-sized) battery that stores the values of your hard drive, etc to pass to Window$. Go to the Dell site & look for your laptop. Usually an Adobe download to show how to change hard drive, add memory, etc. Look for the CMOS battery section, usually CR-2032.

She just did a fresh install and now has no wifi?

 

she needs to get the driver for the wifi, and probably a few other things as well. go to dell's support site, and put in the service tag number when prompted (its usually located on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) this will get you to a page that will list the proper drivers for that laptop, and make sure you get the ones for the correct operating system that was reinstalled. the wifi ones should be listed there. but you should also get the chipset drivers, the audio drivers and the video drivers.

It will rebuild the OS without the loss of any DATA or settings. It basically just rebuilds windows but keeps all of your DATA intact but you will need to get all updates. I have used it on at least 5-6 occasions and it keeps the "grey hair" at bay.
