    Dear All,

I'm puzzled as to why I have a pop-up that states: "Install did not work properly. OK." This appears during the end of every start-up, "Cold boot." All my programs work and I do not believe I have a virus. How can I resolve this issue? Problem with a presistent pop-up? Please advise.

    Dear Cat_w_9_lives,

Enclosed is the jpg snap shot of my problem. This pop-up only occurs with a particular log-in. I'm using the XP Pro on my computer. Looking forward to your reply.

you should check out what you have starting up in windows...could be anything..could also be malware...use msconfig to check out what startup entries you have

just a brief look and it seems that your startup items are not malware...maybe you can use msconfig and deselect one item at a time and reboot after each one to see if the popup goes away...the 2 i would check first (one at a time) are the ones related to the windows installer updater/macrovision.

Look in Event Log under Applications or System Errors maybe...

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Something is not installing for the "user" it could be a application that the user has or had that was not completely uninstalled. Login that user then look at the logs, should be easy to spot what is not installing.

Depending on what's in the log, you should do READ ME & RUN ME for malware. I don't get many errors but don't recall ever seeing such a vague error.

    Dear All:

Called the software company and they sorted the pop-up. It was related to a specific software program during loading that was not used. THANKS. I learned something out of this.
