install .net3.5

I want to load .net 3.5 SDK on my machine as I want to do asp.net stuff.

I download and run this .exe and I get a setup error after a minute and then it exits. It doesnt work.

i also downloaded this and yet again I get setup error when running the exe as it tries to install about 1min into it.

I have winxp Home and .net3.5 sp1 already installed but only 30mb so that isnt the sdk?

what do i do as i need sdk to develop asp.net/silverlight latest stuff

 

The first link you posted above is not for the SDK. It is just for .NET Framework 3.5 which you already have installed. This is probably why you're getting an error, but without know the exact nature of the error and it's wording, it's hard to say. The SDK for .NET Framework 3.5 has a kind of misleading name; it's called "Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5" and is available as a 1.3gb DVD .ISO file; download it from this link. At first I thought this was the wrong link, but I scrolled down a bit.... here's a quote from the link I just provided:

ok I downloaded this file instead of the iso file which seems odd to do?
why burn a iso file to cd and boot up with it seems like a complicated way to run an exe .

I still get an error with this download 'set up error'.

The ISO is an image file. No, it's not an image, like a picture, but it's a disc image. You need to burn it to a DVD (it's too big for a CD). When the burn is done, just launch it like you would any CD/DVD; either open My Computer and double click the CD drive, or just put the burned disc in the drive and close it and it should autorun. You CANNOT burn .ISO file like normal CDs! You need to open your CD burning software and use the "create disc from image" option. Alternatively, you can use the freeware ImgBurn. It's easy; put a blank DVD in your DVD burner, run ImgBurn, browse to the ISO file, and click the big "Burn" symbol and let it go. If you don't have a DVD burner, you can use the freeware Magic Disk to mount the ISO as a virtual drive and it will run like it was in the DVD drive.
