Install PCI Card on Slim Optiplex GX280

Does anyone know whether or not a full length PCI card like a modem will fit into a Dell Optiplex GX280 Small Form Factor Computer? Or do you have to get a special card to fit?

I'm wondering because those little boxes don't seem to allow much room.

There is a free PCI slot, but looking at the case my concern is whether or not the case will close once the card is inserted.

It's a modem card. It's not the actual card into the slot, but the metal part where the cord is attached that may not allow the case to close because of its length. I may just get an external usb modem.

 

Your best bet is to buy a pci modem card thats specifically designed for those type of cases; or an xternal modem like you mentioned.

I think I'll go with the ext. Specifically designed sounds expensive, and giving more money to dell is not desirable. That's the problem with going with proprietary systems.
