Install problems

Hey, I'm having a problem installing software from CD. Whenever I try I get the following error:
"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you
are running windows in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly
installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

Any help would be appreciated on how to fix this. Thanks!

Thanks for the link. Yes, this is the problem. Unfortunately, here's the end of the text;

"To re-register the Windows Installer, verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk and in the Windows Registry, and then re-register the Windows Installer. To do so:

Warning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk."

So, it wants me to figure it out on my own??

 

No, you have to follow the instructions listed. Either use Method 1 Re-register the Windows Installer or Method 2 Reinstall the Windows Installer

OR

Go to the link below, scroll down to # 94 on the left-hand side and click on Windows Installer Fix Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.
