install windows xp

    A neighbor formatted C drive on Windows 95 and now, when trying to install Windows XP, getting message not a system disk

    Probably because the XP CD is in the drive but the CD drive is not set as the first boot device. The computer is trying to boot from the hard drive and when it sees no operating system, it spits out that error.

    Go into the BIOS and move the CD drive up to position 1 to be the first boot device.

    Check what format that the windows 95 set it to.
    FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS

    Should be FAT32 or NTFS for XP.
