Install XP on second hard drive??

Hi

Having installed a second hard disk can any one tell me is it possible to install Windows XP on this second hards disk while I still have XP running on my first hard disk,as I would like to tranfer all data from my old disk to my new disk??????

Yes, provided the partition on the second hard drive is a primary partition.

 

Does your HD come with a utilities CD. Most of them have a utility that will allow you to "clone" your original HD to the new HD, making it the new primary drive. It's another option you may want to consider.

Yes i wish to use the new hard drive as my main drive its a 120 gig partitioned <but I want to do a new instalation of win XP onto this new drive and not copy it across from the old drive,
Will the fact that my new drives letter is F cause any problems will the bios finding it,or can I re letter the drive at a later date when I discard the old drive

Why not just remove the old drive, and install the new drive as master, put XP on it, then put the old drive in as slave then move your data to your new HD.

 

And use the old drive as a backup of the vital stuff on your main drive, using incremental backup software. Bazza
