Install Zip file with Vista

I run Vista on my laptop and downloaded a ZIP file I need to install. My 45-day WinZip trial is expired and I feel I shouldn't have to pay to open this file.

How can I do this? Is there a free software from a reliable source that can do this?

I rarely have to do this and this is the reason why I want it to be free not a trial.

7-Zip is open source software, free forever. It opens ZIP, RAR, and other compressed formats. You can get it at http://www.7-zip.org/ .

 

Both WinRAR and 7-Zip are great programs to have, but in fact every version of Windows from XP on, and possibly before, can open ZIP files without any external assistance at all. Double clicking the file is all that is necessary.

 

Yes, they support ZIP, but not other compression formats. Plus, the native ZIP extraction sucks, IMHO.
