Installation ID won't show

I am upgrading my computer from Window's XP Home Edition to Proffessional Edition and I have to activate Window's over the phone because I don't have the drivers in the computer are not working for the internet to activate windows. However, The installation ID that they need is not there. What can I do?

Yes I have tried both situations. I don't understand why the installation ID is not coming up. I can't get into the computer to try and fix the problem for Windows are expired and needs to be activated. Should I try putting the drivers for the network card in by removing the hard drive and putting it in my other computer?

If you OS is over the activation date you should still be able to get into it but the MS features will not work.
I did that one time and found re-installing got it to work.
If this is your original (XP home) then the key to re-install should be on the side of your PC (on the bottom if it's a laptop) a blue and yellow sticker with a 25 number code written in blocks of 5 xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx this is the install code and then you can activate it via internet or phone.
