Ok so a couple days ago I was trying to install adobe premiere and it just crashed on me. No message, no notice, all it says is, Starting Installshield wizard, and then it just crashes. Now today, I was looking through my library and I found an old game I wanted to play and tried to install that. Once I received the same problem. It says Starting Installshield Wizard and then it crashes.

    Currently running on:
    XP Pro SP2
    2 gigs of ram
3 ghz processor, Intel Pent. 4 HT

    See if this helps:
Go to the link below and scroll down to # 94 on the left-hand side (Windows Installer Fix) and run it. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

Let's rule out a few things:
Bitdefender agree to the license and then select Scan. DO NOT CHANGE THE OPTIONS TO SHOW ALL FILES SCANNED. That will make your logs huge and we don't need to see clean files. Once Bitdefender completes the scan:

Click-on the Detected Problems tab. Then select Click here to export the scan report

When the window comes up to save the report, change the Save as type: box to Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) and then in the File name box enter change to bdscan then click save. This will save a file named bdscan.txt in whatever folder you are currently in when you save the file (take notice of where you are at so you can find it later). This bdcan.txt file will actually contain HTML code that we can easily view later while reviewing your log. All we have to do is rename the file to bdscan.html.

This is a windows installer fix, not installshield fix. :)

When it crashes, you don't get any error box?

Also, check eventvwr (I.E. Click START, then RUN, then type in: eventvwr (press enter). Check under applications, for anything related to installshield.)

    Also, don't ignore TimW's suggestion. :)

Either the scan solved my problem because it did find two things, or I forgot to restart my computer after trying some things to help. The amount of time it took could've been my fault...

Either way, thanks a lot TimW, I owe you one. (and theefool)
