Hi, My Niece has a ViviCam 55 Digital Camera by Vivitar and when she tried to download pictures from it, to her pc, it said in the "Digital Camera" program she had just installed,

that the "Driver Failed", therefore nothing would work.

The usb drivers were installed from the installation disk and it said it was complete,
we had followed the instructions in the booklet that came with the camera: install, restart computer, plug camera into PC and click on Digital Camera Icon

So, because of the above, I took it all home with me, installation disk and camera
I installed it the same way........Only this time, when I restarted my computer it said "new hardware detected" so it asked for the installation disk, which I gave it, now, all of it works fine on my computer.......

We both have Windows XP and it Is listed as compatible on the info with the camera

    Any ideas?

    Heres her computers info
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 1 (2600.xpsp2.030422-1633)

    BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

Have you also uninstalled the driver and software from your neices PC and installed it the same way as you did on yours.... I worked in digital imaging and one of the major problems was the instructions were generally back to front for XP... dont install the software first, see if XP picks its own driver or asks for the install cd.

Yes, we tried it both ways
The way the instructions said...........but since it didnt work we then, uninstalled same......restarted computer

and we plugged the camera/usb into the computer to see if it would detect new hardware..........
    it didnt..........
I just dont recall now what it said/did for that......lol sorry, I have NO memory , its called sleep deprived

I'd also check to see if the Vivitar website as any updated drivers or not. I rarely install drivers that come with a product on CD.
