installed microsoft essentialsand lost windows defender

    installed Microsoft essentials and lost windows defender everything is working great, however when I wanted to see if I have a fire wall in defenders ,defenders stopped working, do I still have a fire wall protection?
    using IE 8 ,Vista home basic ,Dell 531 PC google home page. :wave

    I did the same, seems you get one or the other, they dont coexist or at least thats what I figure happened.
    I have been very happy with essentials. It will coexist with a over ride with another non microsoft antivirus program .

    Security Essentials disables Defender automatically in Vista and 7.

    Go to Start / Control Panel / Security Center

    - or just search for Security Center and click on it when it populates the list

    The current state of your firewall, updates, malware protection and other security settings are listed there.
