Installer kept prompting for additional features whenever I clicked on an Office App.
It then refused to recognise the installation disc (but I can see all the files through windows explorer)
It will not install any updates from microsoft
I have uninstalled office - but it refuses to reinstall

    I get D:\setup.exe is not a valid win32 application.

I have searched loads of message boards and I can't find any help on this error with office XP Pro

I note that my antivirus scan recorded this:
    C:\Windows\Installer\2300c8.msi - Processing error

    I am running Windows XP

My wife uses this pc for work and my credibility on fixing this is zeeero!

The installer was asking for which disk, windows or office?

It was asking for Office XP with Frontpage disc

Are you having problems reading any other disks or installing other programs? Lets see if the others have some insight on this one. If it was me I'd just reformat, easier and quicker.

Windows disc is fine - it boots up off the drive no problem
    All other apps seem fine.

Thanks for taking some time on this one

    Wow, nice problem dodging!

Right. Sounds like the disk is scratched. Is it? Clean it,

If the media is not damaged, you may want to try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

This cause cure some of the feature installation problems with Office.
