Everytime I boot up, Microsoft Installer trys to do an install, but the folder it is looking for is not there. I am sure it is something I have deleted. How can I stop the installer from coming up after every boot?

start --> msconfig --> startup --> find and uncheck the startup item here. you can also uncheck everything you do not want loaded when windows loads.

It didn't work. Maybe I am not explaining it correctly.

When I boot up, a window saying Window Installer comes up. After a few moments, it says Task Panel.

Then I get the following error:

"The folder you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

The it gives me a file location that no longer exists. At this point, all I do is cancel out. This same message comes up 5 or 6 each time I reboot.

How can I stop this from happening?

Will someone please help - -

Windows installer keeps trying to add something to the TASK panel - program Total Access - -

It was an application that came with my DSL service - I have deleted the file it is looking for - - I need to stop the install each time I reboot - - all I get is an error because it can't find the file anymore.

reinstall the application, then uninstall again, and run a registry cleaner to get rid of all references to it

or maybe just try running the registry cleaner before installing/uninstalling it

My advice would be to check out the freeware cleaning utility called CCleaner (also known as Crap Cleaner) which removes unused and temporary files from your system, as well as cleaning the registry.

This program is a "must-have" utility for anyone who frequently installs and then uninstalls programs – in order to rid your system of all of the crap that no-longer-wanted programs and utilities leave in your registry.

CCleaner is incredibly easy to use as well as configure. It easily removes no longer necessary and unused files from your system as well as cleansing any traces of online activities from your Internet history, thereby letting the PC to run faster and freeing up precious hard disk space.

(Note: The CCleaner developer suggests this utility is for advanced users - make sure that you perform a registry backup prior to trying CCleaner).
