    Hi all.
I have a programme that I use to manage a wireless internet link called Simple Monitor that is installed on my daughters laptop.
I want to install and run it on my desktop.
I have copied the folder from programme files on the laptop to my documents on my desktop.
How do i install the progamme?
I have double clicked the app file in the prog folder but it tells me
'This app has failed to start because MSVCRTD.dll was not found. Re-installing the app may fix this problem.'
Is there any way of getting this prog to my desktop??
    Cheers.

    Hi

Do you have the original installer setup for this app (would look for it for you but a quick search throws up loads of apps with that name so would need it's maker) as it's not quite as simple as copying the folders as you would need any registry settings and dlls this application installs for it to work properly.

At times you can hunt for that dll on your daughters PC and put it in the same location folder on yours then you'd need to register any dlls so windows knows where they are but in honesty this route doesn't always work as rhe registry setting are no easy to create.

So if you can find the original installer setup files or name the maker of this software we maybe able to help

    Hi Halo.
    Thanks for the reply.
It is a app from SmartBridge.
I have searched for it and e-mailed the company.
They used to support end of life products but now tell me they have stopped supporting them!!
Why I don't know, it was just a few files on their site.
This was the link they sent me before but now I just get errors. http://www.smartbridges.com/support/endOfLife.asp
The product I am using is the AirBridge Total.
    Thanks for any help.

BTW, I formatted my drive and thought i'd saved the app but i can't find the damn thing.

Not sure if this is what you need (scroll down for SM for AirBridge). My concern is the included firmware update. What version of SmartMonitor were you using?

Hi tried those links and they 404, actually most of that site does for me at present, very limited info and downloads.

Just as a secondary thought, have you copied the folder from your daughters PC to the exact location in your PC, be that in Program Files folder?

Try this as it is the Visual Basic Runtime package and iirc it has that dll in it as many developers us that language to program in, so once installed try the app again, if you get other dll errors etc then you'll need the applicatiosn setup file sadly and a quick search of the net I didnt find anyone with it.

    Hi both.
Sach, no good i'm afraid, I have ver 1.4

Halo, tried those suggestions, no good!
    What a pain.
I shall have to have another good look around and see if I can find it on a save disc somewhere :cry

that should have been ver 1.4k.6

    Oh me oh my.
Had a thought, perhaps if I installed ANY version it would install the correct dll.
    It has worked!!!
The version you showed me Sach wouldn't show my access point so I closed it and ran the version I copied from the laptop.
    BINGO!!
Looks like I will probably have to keep both on here as if I uninstall the newer version I take it it will uninstall the .dll ??

Thanks very much for the replies it lead to a solution.

I'm glad you found a workaround. I tried extracting files from that installer to find the .dll(s) it registers but couldn't locate them. :(

Maybe, you should make a copy of the installer and the folder for your old version and put it on a fresh disc for future reference.

    Good Luck!
