Installing audio device

Hello guys, new here. A couple weeks ago, I installed Vista on my PC. Before that, I had XP and the speakers worked. However, now, when I try to listen to music, my speakers don't make a sound. They are somewhat old (3 years?) and I have heard that Vista needs newer hardware to work. I tried to change the volume, but it gave me a message saying that "No audio devices installed". The speakers are from eMachines and I tried to find drivers, but to no avail. I restarted my PC and tried to let that "New Hardware Found" program popup like it did with XP, but no luck there, either.

How could I fix this problem?

If you have a retail PC, post the manufacturer name and model #
Use Everest to get a report of your system’s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.

Thank you for the help! I did as you instructed. The file is a .txt file. I attached it.

Sorry, I've been a little busy with a problem of my own.
    Check your Windows Audio Service:
    Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services
Scroll down the list of services until you find the Windows Audio service.
Right click on it and choose Properties.
Make sure it is set to Automatic and Start is checked.

Everest says you have a Pavillion s7410n. Here is the audio driver for it.

Before installing it, try this first.
    KB835221 Hotfix
    1. Remove "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus"
    2. Download from Microsoft the KB835221 hotfix and install it: KB835221.exe
    3. Restart the system, and XP will automatically detect the devices
    4. After this you should be able to install Realtek drivers.

If it doesn't fix your sound, then do this:
    1) Uninstall the Realtek software through Add/Remove Programs (if it's installed but not working)
    2) In Device Manager, remove the high definition audio device under Sound, Video & Game controllers.
    3) Still in Device Manager, double-click Legacy Audio Drivers
    4) Click on the Properties tab
    5) Select any sound device listed here and click the Remove button
You may need to remove any instances of the Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio listed under System devices as well.
    6) Run CCleaner, both the Cleaner and Registry.

    7) Restart Windows and retry the installation.

I forgot to mention...my PC is a HP, but my speakers are from eMachines. Maybe that's why it didn't work? I'll try again...

    That shouldn't make any difference.

*sigh* I give up. I've tried EVERYTHING. Maybe my speakers are too old for Vista compatibility? Thanks for such a fast response, by the way! You've been great.
