I have a Dell dimension 2400, 768MB RAM, and just purchased a ATI Radeon 9250 graphics card and I did get the integrated graphics card disable, but, when I inserted the ATI setup disc, I got the message, "try to set up display adapter with standard VGA driver before running set up" and "INF ERROR-video driver not found". Could someone explain to me why this is happening and please HELP the helpless.

im not sure exactly what the problem is but u could try to install it in safemode...and u might wanna use Driver Cleaner to get rid of any previous display drivers..
to get into safemode keep pressing the F8 key on startup and you will get a selection menu of which u need to choose safe mode... driver cleaner can be found in major geeks download section.. i think

The problem I am having is that windows keeps reinstalling my old graphics card when I reboot and I keep getting the message that I need to setup the standard VGA driver. But I am so unsure on how to do that. Thank you for your reply back so quick.

The problem is that windows keeps reinstalling my graphics card and I keep getting the message about setting up a standard VGA driver. I am sooooo lost there. I am gonna have to start from the beginning on installing this graphics card I guess.

first off .. download the drivers from www.ati.com .. do not use the ones that came on the CD w/ your card

and use http://www.drivercleaner.net/ to uninstall your previous drivers ... and read the readme file that comes with it .. as well as the instructions at that site .. then install the drivers you downloaded from ati's website

how did u disable ur on board graphics chip? if windows keeps reinstalling it, it most likely is not unistalled or disabled...

well sometimes it can be tricky to get the onboard to stay disabled if u want it to only reconize the one card best thing to do is to do a fresh install of the os.....cuz u can disable and unistall he onboard but it will reinstall it's self when u boot there's prolly some program u can use tho

To make this simple you could just disable the onboard card in your device manager.

Never had anything turn itself back on from the DM that was disabled, then again disabling through the bios is the safest way.
