i am new to this site and this is my first post; also, not sure if this topic has been covered before, but when i attempt to install ie7, the installation won't finish, and i get the message " ie7 could not be installed, restart computer to remove the incomplete data "; is there a solution, and, is it worth installing at all ? thanx

    And you did restart, right?

Tell us more about your system. What anti-virus program? What firewall? How much free hard drive space? Do you have Service Pack 2, or Service Pack 3, for Windows XP installed?

Are you now using that computer, with IE6? Is it working OK?

In my opinion, IE7 is worth installing; it's more secure and has tabbed browsing. However, i did discover one problem after installing IE 7. I had Peachtree Accounting 2003 installed and certain screens in it would work right. I visited a Peachtree forum and was told that this is, indeed, a problem with older versions of Peachtree. But, I think such situations are rather limited.

thanx for a swift response; my desktop has died, and i am using my wife's Dell Inspiron laptop, 512 mb ram, 128 video ( new machine at the end of the month ); i have avg anti-virus, zone alarm, windows defender, about 1.5 gb free, sp2( sp3 will also not load, nor will it upgrade to windows media player 11 ), am using ie6 with np i can discern; i suspect that my ie7, sp3, and wmp 11 issues are all related; when my new desktop arrives, i will return the laptop to my wife, who is blissfully unaware of any issues!

So, your initial post here was referring to the wife's laptop, right? What size is the hard drive in it? 1.5GB free space is not much; I beleive that could be causing some problem, although I believe you would get a message saying Windows does not have enough free space to compelete the installation. Have you seen any message re: hard drive space being insufficient?

again, thanx to usafveteran for your responses; the hard rive is a 40 gb, if i recall; i probably should just wait for the desktop to do the install; i got no messages re: insufficient space but i know i'm low; thanx a bunch
