Installing MandrakeLinux 10.1

I am about to install MandrakeLinux 10.1. I have two harddrives, both with Windows XP. I want to completely reformat one of them and install MandrakeLinux on it. I do not know whether MandrakeLinux 10.1 needs to be NTFS or FAT32 file system.

 

Hey Dark_Oppressor,
Why not just format one of the drives as ext2, or ext3?
If you really want to install the Mandrake nicely, use that kind of filesystem.

(I use ext2, but, that's just me.).

Hehe, I found out the install disk automatically formats the drive for me. Sadly, after hours of work and a second try at installing it, MandrakeLinux still won't work I can login but then when I try to load the GUI (I was told to type 'startx startkde' to do this) I just get a page full of errors. Please help!

I'm not really a fan of Mandrake, so I'm not too familiar with it, but,

Another thing, too...
If in doubt, try a more "conservative" resolution first, maybe like 800x600?
Then you can increase it.

BTW:
My first install was of debian Woody. (I would not recommend that to a first time user).

I had to stay up all night long to get X configured.

When I finally did get a GUI, I almost fell out of my chair! I do not kid you!
What a gas that was! I will never forget it.
