I have an HP Pavillion 6650f desktop. I am trying to install a new PCI card I purchased that supports dual monitor. We installed into the empty PCI slot. But now when we start up the machine, we can't get the monitor to read out of either the old vga plugin or the new card. I don't think my keyboard is starting up either.

What did I do and what do I do now?

Have you read a manual for that computer? If not, visit Manuals for HP Pavilion a6650f Desktop PC. You may need to access your BIOS settings screens and change a setting to get your computer to accept a PCI video card as the primary display adapter.

By the way, why did you buy a PCI card instead of a PCI-Express card?

How do I access my BIOS screen now? Even when I remove the new card, my monitor won't work like it originally did. I just can't get a signal out of my computer at all now.

Umm...because I knew it had a free PCI slot and just didn't think about it. :)

Also, is the cards driver installed?

Is this the first time you've installed any type of expansion card in a computer? Are you sure you got the card properly seated in the slot?

Yup. Installed in the slot properly. Not my first time. But only like my second. I just don't get why if I removed the new card, which then puts my hardward back to "default" why my monitor/keyboard don't get a signal. There's not a chance I screwed over my motherboard is there?

Do you hear any unusual beep tones during startup? If you watch the LED on front of your computer that normally flickers during any extended hard drive activity, such as startup, do you see any indication of hard drive activity, even though you see nothing on screen?

Do you hear other sounds, such as fans, that you would normally hear?

Fans are moving and no unusal sounds or beeping. It appears like everything is booting fine....
