    hi-
    Ive got a quickie.
Ive got 2 drives, a system and a slave on a relatively new system. For some reason ive been having a brain fart for the past few weeks and have installed every single program onto my systems drive.
So, im wondering what the best way to transfer my programs from system to slave would be. Im guessing I cant simply cut/paste folders onto my slave. Do I need to reinstall programs, is there a program I need?
Im mostly transfering games and utilities, nothing major.
Also, are there any programs that should be kept on the system drive? My sys drive is a bit faster than my slave, will this make a noticable differance?

well, there could be a sleezy way to do it that may or may not work (you want to get a second opinion on this before you try it): you mount the secondary drive in the C:\Program Files\ folder and then move all the folders to the secondary. yeah, that's a bit tough and may not work, but will solve your problem with the solution you're looking for.

as for what i recommend, you can activate both of your primary or secondary drives as dynamic disks. then you create a spanned (JBOD) partition with both drives. it should (if it lets you) use the second drive in conjunction with the first to make one big drive. but be warned: if you want to transfer info from your computer to another's, you can't take out the drive and expect the other computer to read it because it's now a "dynamic" drive.

How do I mount the drive?

oh yeah, it's a disk management software preloaded with windows that almost no one knows about (which is why partition magic is so popular these days!:p)

right click on "my computer", click manage, then on the left, look for disk management. right click on your slave drive and... uh, it's somewhere in there:p

remember, i dont' know if the mounting in the folder trick will work (because windows reads from program files early on in the boot sequence), so your computer may be unusable afterwards.

There are programs around that will let you migrate an installation from one partition to another. Partition Magic is one of them. They rewrite all links and references in the Windows registry as needed to allow for the changed location of the program. I've received more than one in software that came with a retail-box hard drive. You might be able to get something free from the website of your hard drive manufacturer. Maxtor is good that way.
