installing ram of different speeds...

    hi

    my system only has 256 MB of viking pc2100 ram, and i wanted to get 512 more. But, newegg doesnt have that speed in stock, but they do have pc 2700 in stock. if i get that and install it, will my computer work properly?

    The PC2700 should work, as long as the connection type is the same. It will just run at the 2100 speed.

    All PC 2700 ram should underclock to PC 2100 speeds with no problems. I have done this on several systems and haven't had any, just make sure that you don't get buffered ram if your system doesn't support it! Hope this helps! :)
