    Hi,
I have recently had a load of viruses on my computer and I think I have removed them all, I used AVG as I had norton before this but the virus messed it up.

Since this virus problem I have not been able to install any programs or open links in IE. I guess they are both linked as the same problem occurs.

When I run the auto run on a CD to install a program (for example HP ipaq software) the first screen loads and gives me an intro then you click the next button it just displays a blank window (nothing but white).
This also happeneds with IE, when you click on a link to open in a new window a new window does appear but again there is nothing in it, (a blank white window). Can anyone help me please??

Also a minor problem that doesnt really bother me but if there is a cure I would like to know it, when ever I try and run windows media player it displays the message "an internal application error has occured". I have tried installing the new verision etc but I cant find a cure.

Hope someone can help me with some if not all of this.
    Thanks a lot
    Luke

    Hi Luke,

What version of Windows and Internet Explorer do you have?

Also, which Norton's product did you have installed and how did you uninstall it?

    Hi,
I have Windows XP with service pack 2 installed. I also have that version of IE, I guess it is 6? dont know really.
I had Norton 2003 and it came up with an error asking me to reinstall it, when I tried to it came up with the same problem as I mentioned above.

    Thanks
    Luke

I thought you had uninstalled Norton's. Go to the Control Panel and under Add/Remove programs look for Norton's and remove it. Also use this utility, http://majorgeeks.com/download3077.html to make sure you get most of Norton's off your system.

Restart and try your Autn Run feature and IE links when done.

This should fix your Media Player issue:

    1. Click Start, and then click Run.
    2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll, and then click OK.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Click Start, and then click Run.
    5. In the Open box, type regsvr32 vbscript.dll, and then click OK.
    6. Click OK.

Let us know what you get working.

    All sorted,
I already had norton uninstalled and I did the 2 things you said to do in the run option and now it all works, i think. I have installed my iPAQ software and that works.
    Thanks ever so much
    Luke:D
