Well i got a new vid card, Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS (agp) and me and my father did something wrong obviously, cuz well the whole system crashed when we tried to install it, im asuming its cuz we didnt uninstall the old vid card...so we gave it to someone who my father works with, well her son, and he, i guess, uninstalled the old graphics card, which was onboard, and installed the new graphics card. thing is, is that i think he did something incorrectly, because now my games always crash and my mouse cursor flickers with a square following it, and i get nv4_disp display driver has stopped working correctly, plz Restart. Now i want to uninstall the video card, and reinstall it, problem is i dunno how to :p so i was hoping you guys could give me like a step by step process on how to do it. i no i can uninstall in via device manager, but is that all? then just insert the disc the vid card came with and reinstall and rs? thats all??? seems to easy..and i dont wanna screw up my comp again lol. so ye if you guys could help me id love you =) also i have screenshots of crashes and weird things on my games, like white rectangles and stuff if you want them emailed, to big to post here..pfffft 97kb? are u kidding me lol?? bandwich these days >.<

Here's what I would do: shut down the PC and unplug the power cord. Remove the video card. Using the on board video, start up the PC. Go into Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the NVidia drivers completely. Reboot the PC. Using one of the following programs, make sure the drivers are COMPLETELY removed. Use one of these:

Reboot again and run CCleaner. Use default settings to clean both the hard drive and the registry. CCleaner has proven itself VERY safe to use over the years. Download it from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_Toolbar_d4191.html Reboot again and set a restore point by clicking Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Go into the Device Manager, click the plus sign next to Display Adapters and right click on whatever is listed and choose Disable. It'll prompt you to restart. Say No, then shut down the PC and unplug the power cord. Install the new card. Be sure to plug the monitor into the new card. You may want to check the fan on the new video card (if it has one) to be sure it spins nice and easy; it should have what I call "bounce" to it: When it stops spinning, it will kind of bounce back a little bit. This is good. If the fan feels stiff, or gritty, or is really hard to spin with your finger, then the fan is no good meaning the card is overheating which would explain everything. If the fan checks out, boot up with the new card installed and the monitor plugged into it. Cancel any new hardware wizards that come up. Insert the install CD for the video card and follow the on screen prompts. Restart when it's finished. If you still have problems, then something else is going on: your power supply may be too weak, or the motherboard BIOS has a compatibilty issue and needs to be updated, or whatever.....
    Good luck!
    and Happy Holidays! :wine

Ya know.... the video cable.... if you don't plug the cable from the monitor into the video card, you'll get nothing on the screen... I just worded it kind of lame, and it's so freekin' obvious that even mentioning it can be confusing. In my efforts to be thourough and complete and clear, I ended up obfuscating the situation by over-clarifying the obvious. I just meant be sure the video cable is plugged in to the video card... that's all. Sorry ;)

oh i have one more question lol uh, when you say boot up with the onboard, does that happen automatically when i unistall the Nvidia Geforce 7600? or do i have to enable it somehow? i just dont wanna screw up the computer again

It should automatically switch over to the on board video. I've only seen one motherboard where you HAD to enable/disable on board video, and chances are, you do not have this board (it was a top of the line MB from Intel about 3 years ago, and the first BIOS release had a bug in it; later relases didn't have the mandatory enabling/disabling in the BIOS).
