Installing windows.. blue screen... help appreciated

hello everyone. I've been having a few problems.. First of all I have installed a copy of windows it was working fine for about 1 month now it takes about 3 minutes to load the windows screen up (where as before it only took 5 seconds). Now since that has been happening everything has been very sluggish. I have a few anti-virus/anti-spyware removers etc. I do a check up every week it doesn't seem to find anything... Because it has been that sluggish I decided to install a real version of windows.. It gets to the first few steps then when it restarts it comes to the blue screen of death.... does anyone know how to get around this problem? Someone told me I had to buy a new hard drive.

My specs are
Processor: 3800+ x2 amd athlon
RAM: 1024mb
Harddrive: 250gb

More information about the BSOD and the error code will be necessary before any helpful advice can be given. As for a new hard drive being necessary, download the manufacturer's hard drive diagnostic tools and run them before deciding to buy a new hard drive.

Defining a "copy of windows" and a "real version of windows" might prove helpful also!

 

Ok, thanks for the reply. What is 'BSOD' , and is there a way I can check what my harddrive manufacturer is because it doesn't seem to show me on dxdiag?

your hard drive info can be found in device manager

 

HD manufacturer should be listed in Device Manager.

Right-click My Computer select Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager. Expand Hard Drives by clicking on the plus sign.

EDIT : oh i did a little research on google , it's seagate. I'm going to check the website now for the , hard drive diagnostic tools.

Right.. i'm back... this time with the error code. After downloading some of the tools for my hard drive, my hard drive passed the tests.

Well when I install windows and it restarted the error code came up with this

That wouldnt happen to be a SATA drive would it? have you loaded the SATA/RAID drivers for your motherboard?

 

hmm I'm not sure sorry for not knowing anything , how do I get the SATA/RAID drivers?

My current specs are
amd athlon 3800+ x2
1024mb
250gb seagate hard drive
X850 256mb radeon graphic card

 

do you have the disk that came with your motherboard? it would be on there.

 

Well , i've just been on the ASrock website to download the RAID drivers and other drivers. what shall I do now?

you will need to save the sata drivers to a floppy

this will be needed when you are installing windows.

 

I haven't got a floppy drive... Does this mean I either need to buy a floppy drive or shall I just buy a new hard drive to save the hassle?
