Picked up a computer with Windows95. It comes up to the screen that says Window95 but won't come up to the desktop. Can I put my Windows98 disc in and load it over Windows 95?

I would start from scratch. Use a 98 Boot disk (floppy) and run Fdisk. Delete the existing partition and create a new one, format for FAT32 and then install Win 98.

Since you got it used and don't know what may be on it or wrong with it, this is how you should proceed.

A tech cleaned my computer then reloaded it with windows 98 second edition
I originally had windows 98. Now I'm experience difficulties in installin my scanner which is not compatable to second edition. Can I uninstall second edition and reinstall the original without there being a lot on my memory?
    Thanks, Marty

Go to the scanner manufacturer's home site and check for a W98SE driver. I find it hard to believe that the scanner would run on W98 but not W98SE. Still computers and software are funny beasts. Let us know the make and model of your scanner and maybe someone can help further. Bazza

Thanks. The scanner is" Visioneer one touch." The manufacturer tells me that it was out dated as of 2002 and that it may not be compatible with 98 second ed. They have been of no help. That is why I was wondering if I went back to windows 98, but wasn't sure if both would be takeing up space on my hard drive, or if I needed to have it cleaned and reloaded again.

If the techie wiped the drive clean and installed Win98SE onto a reformatted drive, you probably can't go back short of wiping the drive clean again and doing a clean install of Win98.

Best to ask the techie if there's any hope.

Google on "visioneer one touch" gives 4000+ hits. To narrow it down you will need to do an advanced search including the model number. Lots of different models available

    http://www.google.com/search?as_q=&num=20&hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=visioneer+one+touch&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=lang_en&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&safe=images

then try "visioneer one touch" "xxxxxx" (model number) and "driver" and you will probably zero in on what you want. Let us know. Bazza
