Installing Windows Xp Pro

Hello everyone,

Today I bought a brand new PC (hard disk WD 120 GB SATA). Then, I tried to install Windows xp pro, but I encounter the following problem:


Windows Xp has finished formatting my hard disk, but then appeared a message which said that there was an error while the installation program was formatting 114471 Mb Disk ) at Id 0 on bus 0 on atapi [MRB]. The installation is not able to continue. To terminate the installation process press F3.


Could anyone help me?

Did you load the SATA drivers when booting off the CD?

You need to press F6, when prompted.

The drivers need to be on a floppy.

I didn’t installed any SATA drivers, because they didn’t gave me any floppy disks. My motherboard is Albatron PX915PC Pro-G http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/mb/bios.asp?pro_id=155.

Where can I find the sata drivers?

Couldn't tell ya.

This is not a brand I would have gone with. A company like Asus would have drivers for download on their site. This, however, does not.

I'm not impressed with thier Web site or the manual for this mobo.

Look on your MOBO CD, Look for file named F6, SATA/Raid, or similar, there may also be read me file with some directions, probably in the drivers folder.

 

You should not need sata drivers if you are not using a raid config. ( more than 1 drive) I put a wd 160 sata in the non-raid sata connector #1 and my optical drive one the IDE primary channel and set the bios non-raid, depending on you board you should have 2 areas where the sata connects, my board has a promise and intel sata area.
This might not be the same as your setup, but check mobo the book, in the raid array section.
