    i have 2 hd's one c, the other d(which is partitioned into 3)
if i wanted to do a clean reinstall of winxpsp2, could i just essentially reformat c:drive, without it having any effect on my d: drive, since i have files on there?

To add to Kaula's reply, if you are really worried about stuffing up anything on "D", then simply unplug the power lead and hard drive cable that go into your "D" drive, until you are finished re-installing "C". Make sure that you check which way the HD flat cable goes into the back of your hard drive, BEFORE you remove it. There is usually a red stripe on one edge of the flat cable, that usually is nearest to the power lead. Make sure you put it back the same way. If your hard drive cable is a flat ribbon cable, then draw an arrow across the cable pointing towards the power lead. This will help. If it is a round cable, instead of a flat ribbon cable, then I can't help with a suggestion, other than marking/tagging it in some way. Bazza
