    Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me how to install XP onto an external HD. Search net for answer but can only find "cant do it answers". Now normally I would believe it, however I have seen someone with a External HD (Boots via USB). Unfortunately I wont meet the guy again to ask how it was done.

When I have tried it I get to the point where I choose the partition to install XP to and then comes up with a long message talking about being a SCSI problem.

    Thanks in advance

When you are in the process of installing Windows, it will tell you to press F6 for third party drivers, so you just need the relevant drivers handy on disc.

I think the motherboard has to be able to boot from an external unit.

Any fairly new motherboard should be able to do that.

Give us some more details....type of system, type of board, type of external HD. I might have a few ideas.....
